It was June in the desert. I had worked up a sweat photographing the Devil's Corn Field in Death Valley wearing a t-shirt, and half an hour later, I was putting on a couple of jackets and a cap.

This is a night photo of star trails over Rhyolite in Nevada. showing the movement of the stars over 40 minutes. Rhyolite is one of the best known ghost towns in the West, founded in 1904, and at one point having a population of 10,000.
