Location
This photo was created in my bedroom "studio" against a piece of green poster paper to make Photoshopping easier.Time
We created many images that day, however, this was the main concept. It was taken mid day, indoors with a studio stobe and softbox.Lighting
I wanted the image to have a lot of light. It needed to be a happy, kiddish experience. I lit the model with a strobe fired through a softbox. I had her purse her lips as if she was blowing a bubble. I think photographed a lightbulb with the same lighting so I could replicate a perfect bubble. Having the same exact lighting make any image more believable while in post.Equipment
I made this image with a Canon 5D Mark II, a 50mm 1.4 and a strobe fired through a square softbox.Inspiration
The model and I had been talking back and forth about doing a light hearted shoot (as most of our work together had been darker and moody up to this point). We just fired off ideas back and forth and scoured the internet for inspiration.Editing
For post processing, I cut out the background and made it pink. I then did some skin and blemish retouching while cleaning up the imperfections throughout the image. The lightbulb was next. I needed to color the lightbulb and change the opacity slightly to make it look like a believable bubble. Lastly, I colored the model's hair pink slightly to tie the whole image together. In my camera bag
I normally carry a Fujifilm x100T on me most of the time. It's compact and captures beautiful, clean images. For bigger shoots, I shoot with a Canon 5D Mark II. Nowadays, you'll most likely find me carrying around a medium format film camera in addition to the digital.Feedback
My advice to others would be to try and create what you envision in your mind. You may not be able to recreate it right away, but over time and practice, you'll continue to grow your craft until one day, you cant create ANYTHING you can dream up. Photograph everything.
