Psalm 30:2 LORD my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me.

Last evening, we were devastated to find our little happy Fox Terrier dead of heat exhaustion in my car. We can't figure out how she was able to get in, since I assiduously check to make sure she follows me into the house.

Our family is in shock, so badly we called the police last night and an officer came to talk to us. God sent one who has a dog in the emergency room of our local animal hospital, wiht a severe allergic reaction.

With tears and abject sadness, we had devotions last night, praying for our little Chewy's spirit to be comforted in heaven. The Old Testament Hebrew word for soul "being" is the same for people and animals, so I explained to my kids that's what I believe

Our family has lived with trauma for about a year of the last three, having lost mom and both grandfathers within five months.

I've taught my family to have faith, and I can see it in my kid's reactions. No violence, no tendency for suicide, we pray and leave things in the hand of God. And we did that at eight o'clock last night. Our friends reached out to us. God touched us as well. In spite of our shock of Chewy's death, we know the Lord is with us, just as He was when even closer family members passed to glory. He healed then and he will heal now.

I called on Him in our extreme, and felt His presence. We'll get through this, with His grace and mercy.
