This was a Tabaco plant in North Central PA. obviously long since closed. "Reid Tabaco"
This down and out man's Grand Father worked in this plant. He and his children lives directly across the street in this poor part of town. The dilapidation of the building, the proverbial R-R tracks, and his children riding bicycles around the building caught my eye. So i started shooting. That's when i met this kind, gentle and simple man. He was days away from being evicted, forced from his home across from his Grand Fathers plant.
Hearing his pains and concerns of basic life necessities for him and his children, I started to see parallels between yesterdays plant, his situation, and today's US Industry...or lack thereof. I shot it through those eyes, trying to capture his struggle where SO many are today that we don't really SEE, or want to see anyway.
It speaks to me... in a sad, real, and true story of what it is as well as a much bigger picture.
And the page is turned, only to be forgotten
