Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on a family vacation from Europe to the US. We visited family in Nebraska and planned to go to the Omaha Zoo.

Time

We got up at a decent time to take the drive and all I can say it was well worth it. It was not to hot and we got to see some amazing and wonderful animals. We saw lions, birds, snakes, and many, many more animals. We ate lunch before walking to the monkey section. This is one of my favorite sections, no matter what zoo we visit. As we walked up and through the monkey exhibit, I noticed him/her sitting in the tree on the limbs. He/she was sitting alone watching the other monkeys play around and looked at. This was the perfect and right timing for me to get that shot and pray it comes out as I hope. I was standing alone that my family had moved on to the next window. I am no professional photographer and learning every day. My photo was shot during the daytime. However, the Omaha Zoo is so BIG one would need to have a few days to walk in in piece and not in a rush.

Lighting

I am still learning about lightning especially during the day. However, I heard natural light will give you what you are looking for in your photos, and the more you practice the better you will get. Equipment

I have the Canon 5Mark III D and the 24-70/2.8 lens, which is the go-to lens that I can normally get it into my medium backpack or my hobo purse.

Inspiration

Mother Nature and all she has, is one of my biggest reasoning for grabbing my lens and clicking that button. This monkey spoke to me that it was a nice relaxing day, not too hot or humid. As the monkey was looking at his family that told me that even he and other animals want to be loved, feel loved, and need love.

Editing

I did add a bit of contrast and highlight and straighten the picture. Other than that it came out perfectly.

In my camera bag

I always have my 5D Mark III with my 24-70/2.8 and my 70 – 200/2.8 with me if I what to get those nice close-up and I am standing or sitting too far away. I have wipes with me, lens cloth and even a large zip lock bag to ensure my camera is protected from water. Something to drink and a pack of dry fruit with nuts.

Feedback

The only advice I can give anyone is to never doubt yourself and always try. Because if you do not pick-up that camera and hit the button to hear the wonderful clicking sound. Then how do you know if you have that magical perfect shot! Never give up and always move forwards.
