This photo was taken a few years back near Paulina, Iowa.Time
I took this photo right at sunset, just as the sun was disappearing behind the horizen. It was taken in July of 2017Lighting
Well all photographers know that great light is everything. I often scout locations during the day then return to take a photo at sunset or sunrise. This photo wouldn't be near as interesting in the bright light of a sunny afternoon.Equipment
This was shot on my old Nikon D3200, I used a tripod and remote control. My lens was a Nikon 18-55mm kit lens.Inspiration
I think these wind turbines are amazing to look at and a sign of the times. I would like to get a picture of a wind turbine and a windmill.Editing
This photo just has basic adjustments done in Lightroom. Lens correction, contrast, that sort of thing.In my camera bag
My Nikon D3200 has been replaced by a D750. I have a Nikon 28-300mm, a Tokina f2.8 100ml macro lens, and a Tokina Opera f2.8 16-28mm wide angle. I also have a cleaning kit and a remote control.Feedback
Be patient. If you want to catch the blur of movement us an F-stop such as 22 or above. I used F36 for this shot. Scout your location, know where you are going to set up, then stay put until the shot is there. I suggest making the effort to be there for sunrises and sunsets!
