Love the way you were able to feature the textures, graffitti and the courtyard stairway... the lighting is perfect!

Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken in Barreiro, Portugal. Along the river Tejo are many abandoned dock ware houses like this one.Time
It was about 3 pm.Lighting
The strong Portugese sun lit the patio wonderfully from above. It created a nice contrast with the dark entrance.Equipment
I took this photo with my little miracle Lumix DMC-TZ-100, an intelligent pocket camera with a nice Leica lens.I didn't use any extra equipment.Inspiration
We were walking along the abandoned docks of the river Tejo when I saw an unlocked door. Behind this door I found another world, homeless people tried to find a refuge there... The red bin and the graffity in combination with the dark arch and the splash of light on the patio was wonderful!Editing
I did a bit of post-processing in Lightroom to emphasise some details like the graffiti and the arch by lightening them up a little and I cropped the photo. In my camera bag
I don't have any equipment in my bag (yet) I am a beginning photographer and I am learning to use a camera, to look for the good light, composition and point of view. One day when I know how to use and set the camera well enough, I will start to think about a bag filled with technical things instead of the need to understand photography first...Feedback
To capture an image like this is all about being aware of your surrounding, just look around you and be bewondered about the beautiful lively world we are living in, see the possibilities for a nice capture behind every corner. If you look at a subject to photograph, you have to try to realise what you want to achieve, Try to find the good light, the right point of view and the best composition... And most of all, take more shots with slightly different settings so you can choose the best one, once you get home and open your laptop, the magic of today's world begins... I allways crop it later into the size and composition I like best. Crop the photo in different ways, so you can choose the best one the next day when you can have a fresh look at them!
