During a brief window between dragging myself out of bed and twilight, I was able to take my first serious Milky Way photos. Adding to the difficulty factor was that during my week in Acadia National Park, only one morning was clear, and even that was a gamble as the evening before was still overcast and raining.
It was a cold and wet learning experience, playing between the camera settings, finding a composition, and trying to stay one step ahead of the incoming tide. After reviewing the night's shots on my PC, I managed to learn a bit about the necessary settings (I was overexposed by about two stops in this frame before correcting in post), and discovered that I have quite a bit to learn yet when it comes to processing the night sky. While I don't feel that this particular image, or indeed any, from that night are of print quality, I am still quite pleased with my results, and am looking forward to more Milky Way opportunities.
