In the last 20 years, the monarch butterfly population has dropped 90%. IN human-population terms, that's equivalent of losing every living person in the U.S. except for those in Florida and Ohio.
Location: Las Vegas, Nevada
The monarch butterfly may be the most widely recognize of all American butterflies with its distinct orange, black, and white wings. While beautiful, this coloring actually sends a warning to predators that the monarch is foul tasting and poisonous.
Found throughout the United States, as well as Mexico and Canada, one of the most notable characteristics about the monarch is the astonishing 8000 mile journey some will make in the fall to their wintering grounds in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of Mexico or to southern California, depending on which part of the United States or Canada they migrate.

Such a beautiful capture !! Lovely detail and luminosity of light. I have been following the plight of the Monarch for some years now..........I saw only 3 this year. I am from Ontario but some others saw more than I did.
