A large, robust and uncommon dragonfly. A fast and strong flier over standing water, such as drains, ponds and other water bodies. The thorax is green, while the second and third abdominal segments are blue. The rest of the abdomen is strongly spotted. Males and females are similarly marked. The eyes are blue, green or brown, and meet broadly over the top on the head. They rest in a vertical position. Picture taken at my home.
