In 2015 Matterhorn was illuminated for the jubilee marking 150th anniversary of the first ascent of the mountain. 50 lamps along the Hörnligrat gradually lit up until all illuminated the path of the first ascenders from 1865. Awesome backdrop. The lighted trail provides the contrast to the stark slopes. Beautiful theme to a majestic peak.

Superbly captured, sparkling lights leading towards destination , with a background of pleasant sun light, has a touch of DIVINITY, too good.

At first glance, I thought that this was a photo of the ocean, but then I was saying, how’d you get the lights on the ridge? Then I figured it out, that this looks like the Matterhorn in Switzerland. Still, how’d you get the lights on the ridge? People with torches? Anyway, this was a most intriguing photo, thus the award.
