Behind The Lens

Location

I took this picture inside in bedroom on my desk

Time

It was right around sunset so the sun was shining inside the window

Lighting

I turned my desk light on and has the sun coming from the window to try and make a good atmosphic light on the side of the softball

Equipment

I was using a basic camera, a Nikon D3400 with a 25MM lens to be close enough to the ball but has the blurred background

Inspiration

I was first learning my new camera and I was looking for objects to shoot so I spotted a worn softball and thought it had a good ruff texture to the outside of it so I thought if I got the right light on the side of the ball it would compliment the texture

Editing

I didn’t do a whole bunch, I turn the picture to a black and white composer and the. Upped the contrast so it showed the textures

In my camera bag

I normally have my Nikon D3400 and a 25mm to 50mm and then a 100mm to a 300mm. I also have some string lights, lens covers, lens hoods, a remote for the camera, and charger

Feedback

Don’t try and buy a new softball and whatever you are shooting, use an old one that has plenty of use on it already to show the wear and damage to the object because that makes more of an atmosphic picture and helps tell the story of the object. Also don’t directly light the object. Use lights that are already there to bounce off the object. That’s the key to seeing the texture, it’s okay to have some very dark spots in the picture
