Thank you so much! It's taken me a bit to finally get that black background down!

Location
I took this photo, believe it or not, at a grocery store floral department. Shortly before, I began looking at floral shots with the black background, as I find those absolutely stunning, and wondering how it was done.Time
It was just a regular midday shopping trip, when the orchids in the floral area caught my eye.Lighting
Commercial lighting can often be so harsh; this was one of those rare instances when it worked to my advantage.Equipment
This was my first camera, a Canon Powershot six 530... static fixed lens, great to learn on! No other equipment!Inspiration
I had seen other photographers do beautiful things with flower shots. I wanted to learn how to do the black background. The white orchid was so pristine and beautiful...I figured it would be a good test subject.Editing
Oh, wow....lots. I am self taught, both in photography and with Photoshop and Lightroom. I spent quite some time adjusting up and down, light and darker, until I finally got to what I wanted...In my camera bag
I have a Canon EOS Rebel t6, along with a 14mm lens, a canon nifty fifty, and a 70-200 mm. I also carry my assortment of filters, and of course, my tripod.Feedback
Take the ordinary and strive for something extraordinary. Try something new...you never know what you’ll end up seeing in the end!
