Behind The Lens

Location

Inside the artisans home in front of a window.

Time

It was about 11am.

Lighting

I used two Yongnuo flashes. One with a small soft box modifier and the other with a snoot to illuminate the label a bit more.

Equipment

I used a Nikon D300 with a Nikon 50mm f1.4 lens resting on a ProMaster tripod.

Inspiration

This awesome lady is a friend of mine and she has a whole line of gourmet jellies that we are working together to document and come up with some creative advertising material.

Editing

Some work in Lightroom was done but not much more than the basic adjustments.

In my camera bag

These days I have a Nikon D300 and a D700 in my bag with a Nikon 50mm f1.4, a microNikkor 60mm f2.8, a Tamron SP 90mm f/2.8 Di Macro 1:1 VC USD, and a Nikon 135mm f2 dc. I keep a 3 and 6 stop Breakthrough Photography ND filters as well as their CPL in my bag.

Feedback

Just to be creative and try lots of different things. Work with colors and texture as well as the subject matter. Play with DOF to accent your subject and make it pop off the background.
