Little did I know when I went shooting at this location that it would be as meaningful as I found out afterward. Besides a photographic paradise, it ended up possibly holding a lot more meaning to me than I would have ever thought. When I showed this image that next day to my father and aunt, separately, they both indicated that when they first immigrated from Italy by boat in the early 1950's as children, their boat docked at those docks in Hoboken, NJ. Little did I know that the place I was just standing yesterday taking pictures of a dilapidated pier may have been the exact location where my father first stepped foot in this great country many years ago. I always thought they first docked in New York City, but he told me that their first time they came to the USA they arrived in Hoboken, NJ and subsequent trips they docked in NYC. It was a much more meaningful photographic excursion that I had ever imagined
