The water in the sound used to be very swimmable. People would come to this area (Alki Beach) with their families and friends to swim and spend quality time together. But because of pollution the water has become contaminated and swimming is now illegal. Seattle is one of the most eco friendly cities in the USA but this shows that the problem we have created is much larger then we believe.
