Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo as a desktop view in my working room at home in june 2017.

Time

guess it was an early evening...

Lighting

I simply used a desktop lamp for lighting.

Equipment

That times I used a lot of Canon stuff (5D,7D and a lot of their pro lenses), to shoot this photo my choice was my Canon 5D MkII with 50mm at f4, ISO400. Acutally I mostly use Sony A7RIII with SonyFE2470GM, 55mm. I use Feisol triopds. And there are some vintage analogue cameras, Canon, Minox, Leica M7, that I use from time to time.

Inspiration

This vintage Leica 3g was part of my own collection of vintage pre and post WWII Leica cameras and literature. I sold the complete collection of analogue Leica photo cameras later that year. Indeed all my vintage Leicas got a cc service and I used them parallel to my digital Leica M9. When I got a serious eye desease on my right eye I was no more able to focuse with range finder cameras. This tragedy turned to be luck when Sony presented the Sony A7R, I completely changed my technical gear from Leica M / Canon EOS to Sony Alpha. So this ol´ Leica III `s photo is a nice document of my Leica years that have gone. Even if I still own an iconic M7...

Editing

This photo was, as most of my photos, simply developed from RAW to jpeg in Adobe lightroom. I do not use filters, complex presettings or major post-processing. Simply a bit more brightness if necessary.

In my camera bag

Sony A7RIII with silkstrap, FE2470GM, FE55ZA, Macbook pro 13", extrernal SSD Samsung 1GB, a few memorycards, a cleaning cloth, my glasses, an Iphone. On the other hand it depends from the job I plan. In my backback are some more adapter for non-Sony lenses, matching lenses from Canon e.g. , a Sony telelens, filterglasses, carbon tripod...

Feedback

You do not need an expensive studio, macro eqipment - do not think the a big invest in technical gear is necessary - just take a camera and start a try...
