Location
This photo was taken in Banff National Park where I went on a photography trip last summer.Time
I woke up well before sunrise in order to drive an hour to this spot in hopes of getting a good sunrise shot. It turned cloudy just as I got there so I decided to return to my hotel and try again the next morning, but just as I was finishing my breakfast I notice the clouds were breaking up so I decide to head back to the same spot. The clouds broke up just enough to give me sunlight on the mountains. Although I did not get the sunrise shot I was really happy with the results.Lighting
The clouds broke up just enough to give me sunlight on the mountains. Although I did not get the sunrise shot I was really happy with the results.Equipment
I used a tripod with a Nikon d810 and a 14-24 Nikon Lens.Inspiration
Waterfowl Lakes was one of the most beautiful spots on my trip. It has many good spots for photography and compositions, as a matter of fact one of my other photos of this lake was a contest finalist in the Backcountry Photo Contest.Editing
I did not do much in the way of post-processing. I cropped and sharpened it a bit, but that was it.In my camera bag
I carry a Nikon d810 as well as a d750. I use the Nikon 14-24, Nikon 14-70, and the Tamron 70-200. I also have a Tamron 150-600 for my wildlife shots.Feedback
Waiting for the best light was worth it in the end.
