360 species worldwide and only 5 found in Singapore. The Pond Cruiser. (Epopthalamia vittigera.) A huge black dragonfly with beautiful blue- green eyes, which are brown when immature. The body is metallic green or bluish-purple with strong yellow markings. Most species are scarce and difficult to find, as they are constantly on the wing, are extremely swift and keep to the shadows. They typically perch hanging vertically. I found this on the floor of my living room late this morning and took him outside as he was still alive. Fascinating, beautiful compound eyes!
