Location
It was taken during my annual vacation in the Philippines in one of the local beaches close to my place.Time
I do usually love taking photos early in the morning for a softer lighting but this one was taken midday when the light is a bit harsh.Lighting
The location is on the beach and I just the took advantage of the sunlight and tried the angle where there will be no shadow cast on her.Equipment
This was on my Canon 5D Mark 2 with 70-200mm 2.8 V2. No speed light was used.Inspiration
There are other photographers with us and definitely, we will end up with the same angle and the same posing. Fortunately, while most of them are busy shooting from the feet and both sides, I positioned myself above her and waited for the right timing and right facial expression before clicking the shutter in a tight shot.Editing
I did a minimal post-processing through photoshop, with a bit of softening the skin and a bit sharpening of her eyes and lips then converted into black and white.In my camera bag
Everything I will be going out for a shoot I never leave my Canon EF70-200mm 2.8 V2. It is always the first item I put in my bag. This is my favourite lens. I also have Canon EF85mm 1.2, Canon EF100mm 2.8 macro and Canon EF24-70mm 2.8 as my all around lens.Feedback
When shooting, always make yourself ready in any situation. Be flexible, as I myself prefer to shoot early in the morning but this particular situation made me realized that sometimes we need to act outside our comfort zone to be better.
