I took this photo in my studio.Time
I love to shoot in the morning. In my studio i don't have to worry about light because i can set it however i want it, but the mornings are great to shoot. So much time still in the day to make more photos. I feel great in the morning and dogs are always happy. Also, after a shoot there is so much time left for the dog to make a long walk!Lighting
I like to use light to make a soft and warm atmosphere. Therefor i always use 1 masterlight and a small light to give some extra fine shadows and brigtness in the dogs fur.Equipment
I used my canon 5D mark4 with my 24-70 lens. I love working with Elinchrom light.Inspiration
i'm inspired when i see all kind of dogs. very dog has his/her own appearance and when i see the dog i immediately know what i want to capture. With this dog who was very friendly and also very much a strong character, i needed to bring his character to the spotlight. I was so impressed by this dog. So elegant, so big and so much hair. It was a warm day and i decided to use the fan for his hair. This effect was great. I loved it! I love to work with dogs with lots of hair and use a natural effect to make the hair mov in the wind.Editing
I use photoshop CC . First I add the Raw image in Adobe Camera Raw for the basis settings. Then I open the photo in Photoshop for the post processing. When I shot this photo i was looking for a photo with lots of dramatic hair. This is one of a serie but this one i liked the best to make it a B&W. When i procces the photo i try many option untill i like what i see. For me it's really important the tones are in balance. I like it to stand out in the shadows and highlights to give this dog a glamoures look.In my camera bag
For my studio photography i always use my canon 5D4 and a 24-70 lens. It's a great combination and makes razor sharp images.Feedback
Make always sure you prepare a photoshoot. Make sure you know the dog you want to capture. Don't forget the shoot is about the dog and not about you. The most important thing about you is never to forget to enjoy the shoot. Respect the dog at all times. For me that means take lots of breaks for the dog during the shoot. Make sure he is comfortable! When the dog is comfortable you will make great photos!
