Lake Rotoroa is located in Nelson Lakes National Park on the South Island of New Zealand. It is absolutely stunning. On my last visit to New Zealand I was determined to get at least one good photograph of it.
It was a lot more work than I had anticipated. My husband James and I got up at 4am and drove down to the lake only to be greeted with millions of sandflies. I will not lie, I had to do a lot of spot removal on this image as the flies were all over us and the camera. The up side was we were the only two people there and we were in awe of just how peaceful and beautiful the lake was. rachealchristianphotography.com

It was well worth it! Beautiful. I love the feeling of calm and peacefulness.

Gorgeous shot? Sandflies can be quite the nuisance. Can't stop them getting on the lens, but to stop them nibbling you try a couple of weeks taking a vitamin B supplement....they don't bite after that.....spiders do tho ????
