Superb shot of Mr W - I'd be interested to see it with the clutter to the right cropped out and in mono

Yea, lights at concerts tend to mess with good shot's. I'd erase the flood light out behind his head.

Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at the Oasis in Swindon during a tour in 2016.

Time

During the performance.

Lighting

The lovely mottled lighting was purely what had been part of the how setup. I always shoot natural lighting at concerts to capture the moment in it's most natural form.

Equipment

I had a small Sony a6000 on me which has exceptional low light capabilities. It has interchangeable lenses, but due to it's compact nature it doesn't normally upset the security when you ask to take it into the concert.

Inspiration

I loved the light and shadow that has been playing through the lighting rig at the time, and felt that gave the image real character.

Editing

Nothing was done in post-processing to the colour, apart from a very slight crop.

In my camera bag

For concerts I have a Canon 5d mkiii or the Olympus D-EM1 mkii, if I am shooting from the pit. If I am in the audience I tend to favour the Sony a6000 with either the 55mm or 210mm zoom.

Feedback

Practice makes perfect with concerts. Mike stands and lighting changes can be a real challenge, but the rewards when you get it right are just so satisfying!
