Feedback

Be prepared when traveling mountain roads. Rocks can slice a tire beyond repair and cell phone service is spotty to non-existent. We've had 3 people drown or fall off a cliff already this year at falls near here. Common sense goes a long way. Be aware of your surroundings, most of the wildlife is much bigger than you and normally is not a problem. Just be aware. I like using a longer exposure on moving water to give it that silky look. Recommend boots for the cold water, many times to get the right perspective you've got to wade in. I like using a small f/stop and if possible a shorter focal length to get the greatest depth of field. Its also nice to have something in the foreground, such as the logs in this scene, to capture your eye and lead it into the falls. When you shoot just think "what can I do to make an interesting composition rather than a "record" shot." That is the difference between a photographer and a picture taker. A picture taker just wants to record the scene to show his friend and family that were not able to be there. They look at the picture and think " yep, sure enough, its a falls." A photographer still records the scene, but when someone looks at his photograph they think "wow! That's a really nice scene, wish I could take pictures that good, or I'd like to have that hanging on my wall."
