Why, thank you. He's proud of his tail, he considers it his best attribute...lol.

This lovely guy was captured on a sunny day in November, at the Dallas Arboretum, in Dallas Texas. In a small field by the edge of the Arboretum property, near White rock Lake, there were dozens of squirrels running around, carrying on about their day without a worry in the world. This little guy in particular caught my eye. He sat about 12 feet above me, preening and primping—he must have an important engagement! His tail seemed to deserve the most attention, and he didn’t seem to mind the audience.Time
This shot was taken near noon, on a beautifully clear, sunny day.Lighting
The clear day, coupled with the bright sun, highlighted his (her?) beautiful layers of color, enabling you to see every strand of fur, every layer of color. Mother Nature was truly in the spotlight that day!Equipment
At the time, about a year and a half ago, I was shooting with a Canon PowerShot SX520 HS....fixed lens. ISO 160, aperture f/5.6, with shutter speed at 1/250. I was learning, at the time, so I was shooting on full automatic (I know, “auto mode” is the devil!).Inspiration
He happened to be sitting in his tree, just begging for an audience. He was such a beautiful animal, and he charmed me into shooting him!!Editing
None!! This is that photo that, despite my best efforts, still came out perfect. In my camera bag
Wow. Now I use a Canon EOS T6, and I carry an assortment of filters, wide angle lenses, a macro lens, a 75-300mm lens, my tripod, a few other lenses, my external flash, a remote, and my favorite “toy”, my crystal sphere!!!Feedback
I think the clear bright light that day made for this beautiful shot. It brought out all the details clearly and didn’t require any adjustments. Just look to see if the details you want to highlight are there...if they are, shoot away!
