Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. We were there at the Royalton Resort for her wedding.

Time

It was late afternoon. Just before the ceremony.

Lighting

I used a flash to backlight her, and I believe I had one in front as well for a bit of extra light. It was a very shady spot.

Equipment

Canon 5d Mark 2, my Sigma 50mm, and 2 off camera flash

Inspiration

The whole place was inspiring. But I had seen a photo similar and loved the backlighting effect so I wanted to try it. When I saw that spot, I knew it was the perfect place to try it!

Editing

I did brighten her a bit, and brought some of the colours out more.

Feedback

Practice practice practice! Having a trigger and off camera flashes has been a game changer for me. Depending on how much light you want, is where you will position the flash.
