Behind The Lens

Location

This photograph was taken in the second pass of the competitors for the section of Viana do Castelo in the last edition of the rally of Portugal, proof that counts towards the world rally championship - WRC (May 2017).

Time

It was taken around 16:40 on a day of intense heat and blue skies, which was a huge challenge because of the strong light and intense glow.

Lighting

Nothing special to add.

Equipment

Nikon D300s + Nikkor 70-200 2.8 VR II. (No Tripod or monopod)

Inspiration

Well, I'm a motorcycle enthusiast and photography enthusiast, so whenever I can I'll see and photograph the events. This helps me look for the best spots to make good pictures. (Hope the google translation makes sense)

Editing

Yes! I use photoshop elements 11. All my photos are made in Raw. I make some adjustments to the ACR and then apply some layers of levels, brightness / contrast and hue / saturation to compensate for highlights and shadows.

In my camera bag

Nikon D300s + AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR + AF Zoom-Nikkor 35-70mm f/2.8D + Nikon 16-35mm f/4 AF-S VR G ED IF N + Flash Nikon SB 900

Feedback

Well, I'm an amateur. I think a good lens is key to a good end result, however, the more a person photographs, the more chance he has to evolve. This is my experience. For this type of photography I usually use continuous focus and multiple shots per second. It is also important to predict the route of the cars in order to make good photographs.
