Location
This was taken at Exmoor Zoo, Barnstaple, Devon, England.Time
It was a very warm May morning about 11.30am. We had had a spell of warm, dry weather & these guys were just basking in the sunLighting
It was a warm, hazy day but I was able to get close enough to cut out any glare.Equipment
This was taken using a a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX200. A great little bridge camera which is lightweight & easy to carry around all day.Inspiration
I not only loved the way they were all lying in a row but also the colouring. The dried mud & branches all seemed to be the say colour making the brown/tan colouring on the hogs stand out.Editing
Apart from a little cropping I didn't use any post-processing on this one. The natural colours of the ground, branches & hogs makes it look like I have used a mask to highlight the colour of the hogs but I didn't. This image is as taken. In my camera bag
I am a very lazy photographer as any one who knows me will verify. I only ever carry my camera.Feedback
Look for natural symmetry & colour. These guys were lying perfectly in a line & made a great composition. The dried mud & branches reduced surrounding colour to make the hogs stand out. It's not always about how much colour ins in your image sometimes it's how little colour there is.
