Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in my studio

Time

It was a Sunday evening

Lighting

I used 3 strobes. One softbox 120x80cm on the right. Floor softbox to to fill shadows on his face and another 120x80 softbox behind him on the left. And I used it to give him some subtle contour and rest of the spill I used to light white background behind him.

Equipment

I used canon 7d with usmII 70-200 2.8 lens. 2x600w strobes in softboxes and one 300w floor softbox strobe

Inspiration

This was his second professional photoshoot in his life. I have done first one on the beach and this was the second one in the studio. At the time he was just starting his modelling carrier and he needed some pictures in his portfolio. I have to say he is natural and it was really easy to work with him and pull quite few great shots.

Editing

I haven't done much with it. Just bring it in to the Lightroom and adjust colors and than export.

In my camera bag

I have Canon 7d and full frame Canon 1ds. My fav lens would be 70-200 2.8 and than 24-70 2.8. Flash 580ex. Sometimes I bring 11-16 2.8 tokina lens for night sky. I have tons of other stuff but I use this 99% of shoots

Feedback

I won't say it's easy ;) I'm trying to capture a person not a pose. Usually it works at the end of photo shoot when model is tired and have no energy to pose. Also after few hours he is used to the new enviroment and the whole process. Than it's the best time to capture his personality and character.
