Behind The Lens

Location

This picture was taken in the Olympic National Forest near Sequim Washington, where my in-laws live. Each time we visit this amazing area we try to do a few new things. This was taken when my boys were little--maybe 12 and 8--we returned last year to this very spot to witness the solar eclipse. You really feel like you are on top of the wold. It is the Rainshadow loop https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/rain-shadow-loop

Time

Midday I think

Lighting

Mostly I worry this pic is popular because of the subject matter

Equipment

I think it was iPhone not sure or canon power shot

Inspiration

My kids think I'm creepy and voyeuristic because I take a lot of pictures, but this just was an awesome moment. We were above the clouds and they LOVE to pee in nature, and the way the light caught the stream was 'magical' if one can say that about relieving oneself. My younger son is also wearing my floppy sun hat and I love the brother vibe--they look so happy in the moment!

Editing

I don't think so

In my camera bag

These days mostly just my iPhone

Feedback

I have a background in journalism and have always been obsessed with 'documenting' moments. I think my eye has developed over the years and I just see great moments --decisive moments and try to capture them. Unlike when I began and had to weed through contact sheets--I can now easily snap, crop and edit my pics quickly.
