Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in a bar in the city centre, Guilin, in Guangxi, China

Time

It was made in the evening, we were enjoying a drink or two.

Lighting

Well, the bar was pretty dark, so I had to use my icelight, simple.

Equipment

This particular photo was taken with my Canon 60D, 24 - 105 f4.0 Canon L lens and it was hand held.

Inspiration

The beauty of the model, Ms McConnel (https://www.facebook.com/ciara.mcconnell) was the inspiration and she was very kind and patient

Editing

Well, I try to crop in camera, but as always with people's portrait photos we need to show the face people relate to and not all there is, so naturally the minor blemishes have been edited away and the beauty of the person is kept.

In my camera bag

You can guess, a camera (sometimes two), an additional lens or 2, an ND filter, extra batteries, extra memory cards, care and maintenance tools, a torch, plastic bag in case of heavy rain. Camera: Canon EOS 5D mark III Lens: Canon 70 - 200 mm f/2.8L, Canon 24 - 105 mm f/4.0L, Canon 50 mm f/1.8 Tripod and head: Really Right Stuff Filter: Kase polariser 77mm

Feedback

Find the light, shape your shadows. Think about your lighting and the impact as well as the attitude you are trying to portray, then take as many shots as required and necessary, more better than less!
