This photo was taken in my living room. My house is only 1,200 sq ft. So I am always working in space limitations. The background was a simple background stand with a 54” thunder grey seamless.Time
This was taken in the evening, but indoors, so the time of day was irrelevant.Lighting
Lighting was a two light setup. Main light was a flash in a 32” softbox to camera right at full power. A 28” softbox with a flash was to camera left, and behind the subject set to 1/4 power. Camera ISO was 200 Shutter speed was 1/250Equipment
I used a Fuji X-Pro 2 equipped with the 35mm f/2 lens at f/6.3. The two flashes used were the flashpoint Zoom Li-ion, and cheetah v850 (essentially the same models).Inspiration
My son, like most kids, love super heroes. He was having a super hero-themed birthday, and we needed some shots for his invitations. We do themed birthdays every year, and every year the invitations are costum made in the theme of the party.Editing
I used Lightroom exclusively for this photo. Aside from muting the colors a little bit, not much else was altered.In my camera bag

If your envisioned shot is going to require multiple lights, start with one. Once you’ve locked in your power settings to get the look you want, then move to the second light, and so on. Don’t try to adjust all lights at once. It’ll drive you crazy! Most importantly, don’t stop practicing your craft.
