Jute is cultivated after from summer through monsoon till autumn. It takes time for the plant to grow, the rain fills up the dried waterbodies. As the jute is cut and kept in water for rotting, the air is filled with a peculiar smell. This picture shows the jute stems bundled together and left for drying after the fibre has been removed. The fibre is also kept hanging from walls or simple bamboo constructions for several days for drying. I grown fond of this period of time because the smell has an addictive nature and that everywhere becomes so golden with the golden fibre and the golden stems all around.
