Behind The Lens

Location
Looking down river from the Mesilla, New Mexico diversion dam - the Rio Grande makes it's way toward El Paso where it becomes the international border between the US and Mexico.
Time
A few close friends got together out in this remote location in the desert along the Rio Grande to shoot into the night from sunset.
Lighting
The lighting is natural - 20 second exposure during golden hour with a quarter moon.
Equipment
Canon 5D MK IV on a tripod, 10 stop ND filter, natural golden hour sun and moonlight from a quarter moon with a Rokinon 24mm prime lens.
Inspiration
Friends.. the perfect sunset desert May evening, moving water, and sunsets.
Editing
Yes.. some luminosity masking, a crop, and converted to black and white balancing color calculations in Photoshop CC.
In my camera bag
More gear than a 50 year old should be humping around the desert. Two camera bodies and tripods, filters, lenses, low level lighting and tripods, it's embarrassing really. Snake gaiters for Jake the Snake, and a variety of headlamps and a keffiyeh scarf. I really only need a fast ultrawide zoom, specifically a Sigma 14-24mm f/2.8 DG HSM Art Lens for Canon EF and a variety of Canon tilt-shift lenses to complete the collection.
Feedback
When your friends say "Let's get together and shoot something tonight," do it!
