Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken on Treasure Island Beach, Florida where my family has vacationed for over 20 years.

Time

It was around 8:30pm, I was laying in the sand behind a sand dune covered with sea oats. Patiently waiting for the perfect sunset photo! I feel as if this is IT!

Lighting

Natural light from the sun setting over the Gulf of Mexico was perfect. Staging the shot through the sea oats is what really sets it off from other sunset shots I've taken.

Equipment

Canon Rebel XTi DSLR with 35-80mm lens, set totally on automatic. Nothing special really.

Inspiration

Every year on vacation I tried to capture the most awesome shot I could. All week the sunsets had been less than special. Fortunately on our last night on the beach we were rewarded for our patience with this masterpiece from above.

Editing

Only post processing done was the addition of a frame (which I regret now) and my signature.

Canon Rebel XTi EOS DSLR, 35-80mm lens, 80-200mm zoom lens and Canon Macro Lens EF-S 1:2.8 USM.
