I see what you were talking about mate. I am not in a position to advise you but if I must, then I would say that to get the right effect, you have to increase the contrast in these photos. That will make blacks more black. This again leads me to a question, if you edit your photos and if you do then what software do you use?

Thank you Nishant, using Photoshop Elements I usually use Auto Enhance and then increase the contrast on most of my photos, because I agree that it does improve the look of the image and I did use it here however I wasn't aware of the shadowing in this one until it was too late to do a re-shoot, but I have learned that changing the lighting would have made a difference for the better.

When we make images, we make choices. The catch light in one eye is a unique, and in my opinion very effective choice... Well done...

Thank you, it was shot in a dark room using a single umbrella light.

Fascinating and engaging. I would go with ur gut in editing. The nuances only the photographer knows determines our sliders, I feel. To add more contrast or darks is about such a conglomerate of information. Yea, we may edit it differently, different style or different mood.. But, I believe each has its perfection.

This was a very simple shoot, a single umbrella light to the right of the subject in a darkened room with a black background, very easy to duplicate!
