Magnification is 400x its true size. While these organisms could not be called intelligent they take care of a very important jobs on our planet. They are responsible for the decomposition of organic material in water. Stop for a minute and think about decomposition. It is an amazing process of recycling and returning the basic nutrients of life to the water which is where all life came from and which today nourishes all life. If matter could not be decomposed at a microscopic level our earth would become overrun with debris with two to three weeks.

These guys help save lives.
