The Bristlecone pine is one of the oldest living life forms on earth reaching ages of over 5000 years. I traveled to Bryce Canyon, Utah with the intent of capturing these regal trees against a Milky Way backdrop. However on the night we set out to capture this moment the temperature dropped to 8 degrees Fahrenheit with 30 mph winds! As the hike meandered precariously close to steep drop offs we considered turning back several times. At last we found this beautiful tree just as the Milky way was reaching a near vertical position on the horizon. The timeless nature of the Milky way and Bristlecone Pine made for a stunning final composition.
