Dear Amanda: I think you are right, chancing upon these bee hives means more to me that looking at a famous diamond necklace in a museum case. The farmers in village used to search out bee hives in trees in the forest, after some time they realized it would make more sense to move the hold trees (hives) to the village. I am now back to Thailand after a fascinating time in Ukraine! :) Hope everything is good for you and your family.

This was at an open air museum with 200 homes in 7 villages, the area was 300 acres. Most structures (churches, schools, homes, barns and windmills) built in 19th century.

Dear Cookie: In the small world department, I was in a 19th century art museum in Krakow and saw a painting that showed the Ukraine beehives and was, in fact, titled, Bee Hives in Ukraine. I smiled about that. I am glad that some of my photos are striking a resonant chord with you and your travels. Thanks for writing! :)
