This photo was taken on the beach during low tide at the Point Cabrillo Lighthouse in Mendocino county, CA.Time
This photo was right at sunset, around 630-7pm during the earlier spring hours.Lighting
The lighting during this moment was truly magical (as sunsets are)! Standing amongst hundreds of tide pools reflecting the horizon was more than I could ever put into words.Equipment
For this photo I used a Sony A7RII with the Sony G-master 24-70mm FE/ 2.8. In order to get my hand in the shot I used a remote shutter that works from an app I can synch between my phone and camera called 'PlayMemoriesMobile'Inspiration
Well, I had just recently found two different sized crystal balls. After seeing some other crystal ball photos I decided to go out and try a couple of things differently. Such as, using one crystal ball as part of the field I'm trying to reflect.Editing
I do a ton of post-processing in some of my photos! However, this one did not need that. Subtle curve adjustments is all!In my camera bag
Normally, you can catch me with a collapsible tripod, a couple of memory cards, extra batteries, several soft cloths, a Sony A7RII, a 24-70mm FE/ 2.8, and a 50mm FE/ 1.8.Feedback
Sometimes it takes awhile to get the unique shot you may be looking for. In many instances I've found that if I stay a little longer, and shoot a bit more I will stumble across the photo I've been looking for all day. During this photo, I left in the morning with quite a few ideas but didn't hit my mark until sunset and 5 miles or so worth of hiking. All in all, if there's any advice I could give; it'd be to hang in there!
