Behind The Lens

Location

I took this on the way to the Pt Reyes Lighthouse, in Pt Reyes, Marin County, CA. - North of San Francisco. It looked like it went on and on... I chose this also because a photo contest I was in asked for entries that could be used as covers for cds. Album Art. Bon Jovi's Lost Highway cd is what this reminded me of. It was the inspiration for me taking this photo. It didn't win but did pretty well, compared to the other photos submitted.

Time

It was taken in the early afternoon, around 1 pm.

Lighting

The cloud cover was perfect for what I wanted to convey: An endless highway/road, with nothing but the clouds and the seemingly endless horizon in the future.

Equipment

I used my Olympus SH-1 fixed wide angle lens camera. No tripod or flash needed.

Inspiration

It looked like it went on forever. Rather somber. I liked how it really did look like a "lost highway", far away from everything, that just went on and on.

Editing

I did minor lighting adjustments in Photoshop Express, to make it look how it really looked when I was there.

In my camera bag

For me, very simple. My Sh-1, in its case, with its strap and an extra memory card. I rarely use a tripod, as well as rarely use a flash. Natural lighting looks the best. Somehow I'm able to keep still enough to take these photos.

Feedback

Have an open mind. Something that might initially look plain and boring, most likely isn't. I take photos of all kinds of things. Most of my favorites are "happy accidents", for the most part. But keep snapping. With digital cameras you can always delete what really doesn't inspire you later.
