I found this Bible lying on the step of a mausoleum, in Old New Orleans Cemetery, No. 2.
It had obviously been there a long time, given the amount of mold that was growing around its leather cover.
Surprisingly, the text on the open pages was sharp and had not bled.
I have no idea what passage the bookmark referred to; I photographed the Bible exactly the way I found it.

St. Louis Cemetery No. 2 opened in 1823... It is the final resting place for many well-known Jazz and R&B musicians. It lays about a mile North of the French Quarter.
US Interstate Highway 10, was built above the cemetery in the 1970's, and looms three stories above the cemetery...
