This was taken on a river near my home.Time
It was a very hot afternoon-we went there to cool off.Lighting
I believe this was taken on a normal sunny day.Equipment
This was taken some time ago with a DMC-LX7 settings Aperture f/1.9?ISO 400?Shutter 1/2000?Focal Length 108/1. It is a small camera-very convenient in a setting where I can keep it dry in my pocket. I can hand hold it, as it is image stabilized, and has some nice features, like an ND filter built in.Inspiration
My doh was having so much fun! And because he doesn't swim extremely well with his short legs and heavy body, he wears a life jacket. The current was also fairly strong in the river , so I had him on a long tether. I liked the way the water was dripping off him as he emerged from a dive to get the ball.Editing
I usually process my photos in Photoshop CS, adjusting exposure and sharpness as needed. In my camera bag
I generally use Nikon equipment now- a D500 with a 500 g/5.6 lens for action shots (birds). I also have a macro lens. For shots like this though, I just carry the pocket camera mentioned above. It is high quality, lightweight and handy. The focal length is adequate for fairly close shots.Feedback
I take a lot of pictures in burst mode , generally, hoping that one or more will come out well. It's good to get down to eye level, if possible, or close to it. In this case, I waited until my dog paused a bit after diving for his ball. He is actually standing in the water-it was very shallow.
