Behind The Lens

Location

This image was taken near Montebello Quebec

Time

The was taken in low light on an overcast day providing for even lighting although challenging circumstances given the required ISO and shutter speed to capture this image

Lighting

It was mid in low light (snowing) providing for the aforementioned challenges

Equipment

Although not sure, I think I was using a Nikon D3S Camera and a Nikon 400 mm F 2.8 lens, no flash

Inspiration

I generally like to shoot in what most would consider bad weather. It is more challenging but also more rewarding; at least for me. In this case, snow was an added bonus to capturing the overall mood for this type of image.

Editing

I shoot in RAW and as such do post processing on all my images; this typically includes adjusting the exposure and other capture parameters such as white balance, pre sharpening. I then enhance the image with sharpening, cropping and any other post processing required to capture the essence of the image

In my camera bag

I normally bring a wide variety of gear that includes Nikon camera bodies (full frame and crop sensor cameras) Nikon lenses ranging from 14 mm to 600 mm (primes and telephotos) as well as Gitzo tripods.

Feedback

For me, there is nothing that adds mood more effectively is snowing conditions... shoot in the snow...
