Location
This was taken in studio at Hallmark Institute of Photography.Time
This was taken inside, don't remember what time I took this photo.Lighting
I used 4 strobe lights. The main light was a beauty dish with a grid on a boom stand just above the subjects head. There are also two kicker lights on the right and left of the subject with strip boxes on both. Lastly there is a background light to create some separation from the subject and background.Equipment
Camera: Mamiya 645 Lights: ProfotoInspiration
I came in to this shoot wanting a certain look. It wasn't working out so I told the guy to stare directly into the camera and shoulders square! It was by pure accident that I actually got this shot. What inspired me was certain music magazine cover shots from Rolling Stone!Editing
Very minimal post processing actually. Boosted up the clarity a little bit and darkened up my blacks with a few other minor tweaks in Lightroom. In my camera bag
Nikon D800, Nikon 50mm 1.8 lens, and a Tokina 16-28mm 2.8 lens.Feedback
Go in to the studio with a plan, but don't be scared to change it if it's not working the way you want it to. In the studio you have everything at your disposal, without having to worry about the weather or sun!
