This photo was taken in Toronto Canada at the "Motorama Custom Car & Hot Rod Show" 2017Time
Sometime that day, it was indoors under (I think) tungsten lighting?, so not so important of a question I don't think?Lighting
The lighting in this part of the exhibit hall was tungsten vapor I believe (Trade Show Hall lighting), so I adjusted my white balance accordingly, then tweaked to perfection in post ~ Photoshop CS6 at the timeEquipment
This was shot hand held, manual focus, using my Canon 5D MKii and my 16-35mm II 2.8 lensInspiration
The truck itself was just plain cool... no real inspiration needed beyond that? Almost perfect patina and brand new shiny wheels, good combo.Editing
Yes, I did a tad of saturation to bring out the aqua blue paint that was still left on the truck, and that in turn, that richened up the patina, a perfect storm. Other than that, not much else. I try to get as close to the final image from within the camera as I can so I don't have to do any "over" correcting in post, I'm not big on "over corrected" images (thats just personal taste)In my camera bag
I run with a Ziess 50mm manual prime, my 16-35mm canon and my go-to for almost everything, the Canon 70-200 (LOVE that lens) oh, and batteries and a lens cleaning cloth, thats about it, keep it simple, it forces you to really use your eye. I have recently switched from my Canon body to the new SONY a7III mirrorless with very good results so far, still getting used to it. I have an adapter so i can continue to use my Canon glass.Feedback
Lighting and angle were the key here, it would have been more difficult to achieve the same feel outside in harsh sunlight... which is more than likely where you would run across a subject like this (outdoor at car show or cruise night). Never be afraid to try shooting at different angles and levels for a shot more unique or dynamic than just a "picture" of a cool truck. One thing I like to do (especially with vehicles like this), if its slammed (lowered) shoot it at a low angle for a more dynamic shot.
