This photo was taken in Hamnøya on The Lofoten Islands when I visited this breathtakingly beautiful part of Norway.Time
Because I wanted to photograph the sunrise over the rorbuer - former red fisherman’s homes - I arrived at this place at appr 5:30 am. It was extremely cold!Lighting
I was hoping for a spectacular sunrise in which the sun would lit the mountain in the background in a beautiful soft colors with orange and pink.... unfortunately shortly after sunrise a huge cloud appeared and the sun took some time to get passed it. By than the light had already hardened and the effect was gone. Still a beautiful light though!Equipment
I used my Canon 6D with the Irix 15mm Blackstone on a sturdy tripod. And I was wearing warm wind proof clothing, warm boots and 2 pairs off gloves. Oh and a warm woolen hat!Inspiration
I was visiting Norway with friends. We planned a photo trip to see and photograph the Northern Lights and ‘to do the hotspots’. This, of course, is one off the hotspotsEditing
I did some post-processing to lighten the shadows in the front and I enhanced the colors. In my camera bag
In my photo bag you’ll usually find my Canon 6D body along with my Canon 24-70mm, my Irix 15mm, some filters, sometimes I bring my Canon 40mm - the pancake. Depending on what to photograph I might carry my Canon 100-400mm. And of course there are the usual accessories.Feedback
The Lofoten are known for many beautiful places to photograph. Also you can expect all kinds of weather in only 24 hours. So be prepared for beauty, bring al your gear, plan ahead, have patience and be prepared to come back to a specific spot if necessary. Use the internet and photography sites to see what to expect, what’s been done and decide what you want. Plan ahead and be prepared to change your plan if something else comes along! Oh, and don’t forget to enjoy!
