This photo was taken in my garden after a brief session of rain.Time
I headed outside, once the rain stopped, it was about mid afternoon . I love going out after the rain. There are so many interesting subjects to photograph and the atmosphere is always quite and magical. This beautiful flower caught my eye immediately. It was bursting with life and looked so vibrant and fresh, with raindrops delicately adorning its pastel colored petals. The rain drops almost cause the petals to shimmer like metal and draw you to the dark center of the flower.Lighting
The dappled, subdued light after the rain provided a nice darkish background. I highlighted the flower with a subtle speedlight and that caused the flower to magically pop out of the darkish background, giving it that magical feeling of bursting out with life and vibrancy.Equipment
I use a Nikon D3300 and the lens used was a Nikon 35mm 1.4. Handheld and speedlight used.Inspiration
I always like to walk around after the rain. This flower caught my eye as it seemed to be loving the showers. The beautiful colors are also a startling contrast to the dreary rain afternoonEditing

I have a Nikon D3300 and Nikon 35mm 1.4 lens. I love the shots I can get with this lens. I also use a Nikon 18-140mm lens and the Nikon 55-200mm lens.Feedback
Always try to go out after it rains. You will be pleasantly surprised the magic you can find. Look for raindrops on flowers, sometimes even gathered in the centre of the flower. Take multiple shots. Sometimes you want the whole flower. Other times, zooming in and getting the heart of the flower makes a better shot. Experiment and take shots at different angles. Don't be afraid to get down on the ground, upside down. Don't worry about looking weird :). Its art you creating, or at least trying to :)
