Red squirrel eating nuts given to supplement food found in the woodlands of Snaizeholme, a few miles outside Hawes. This wild population of red squirrels have hung on against advancing grey squirrels and habitat loss and are beginning to advance. Recently they've been seen in Hawes, a town in Wensleydale which may mean they're beginning to spill-out of their area to set up new populations. Sadly, their fortune is wrapped in the misfortune of the non-native greys which will have to be controlled.
