Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken just outside the small village of Alamo, ND. My father grew in up Alamo, ND

Time

It was over Memorial Day weekend 2015. My father and I went to visit the graves of my grandparents and took back roads to drive back to Alamo. It was a beautiful quiet afternoon and every little homestead, abandoned building my father had a story about it's past residents. This farmstead drew me because the barn was still very intact!

Lighting

Mother Nature provided excellent lighting, it was all natural with no filters.

Equipment

Panasonic Luminx, no tripod, no filters or flash

Inspiration

I enjoyed the time with my father and the stories he was sharing about all the homesteads and abandoned buildings we were passing on the way to/from the graveyard. I wanted to capture the moment and create some memories for my father to take back to Arizona with him.

Editing

No post-processing other than cropping and straightening.

In my camera bag

Sometimes I don't even carry a bag....my go to Panasonic Luminx is always with me.

Feedback

ALWAYS have your camera with you, no matter how short the trip may be. You never know when you will come across something you want to capture. The randomness of such shots can make the most interesting stories!
